Early Life

Emanuel James Rohn was born on 17 September 1930 in Yakima, Washington in the United States of America. He was the son to Emmanuel and Clara Rohn. Their family owned a large farm in Caldwell, Idaho in which they worked in too. 

Jim Rohn grew up in the family farm and was the only child of his parents. Rohn attended college and dropped out after just one year to kick start his professional career.  He started by working as a human resource manager for a department store called Sears. He attended a lecture by a renowned entrepreneur called John Earl Shoaff while he was attached to Sears, a lecture tow which he was invited by a friend. He later joined in Shoaff’s direct selling business in the year 1955 and worked as a distributor. 

Career

Jim Rohn was mentored by Shoaff himself when he later joined Nutri-Bio which was a similar direct selling business. It was through Shoaff’s mentorship that Rohn was inspired to build a large organisation in the company. 

Rohn, himself mentored a number of great personalities such as Mark Hughes who is the Founder of Herbalife International. 

His motivational speaking began after Nutri-Bio went out of business and he was called to speak in a meeting to his Rotary club members. Thereafter, he was invited as a speaker to other meetings and seminars. This led him to be awarded in the year 1985 by the National Speakers association. He was noticed for his good performance as a speaker. He also authored a number of prominent works that inspired those who came across them.

Death

Jim Rohn passed away on 5 December 2009 after suffering from Pulmonary fibrosis.
