Early Life
Kant was born on 22 April 1724 in Konigsberg, which was then the capital of Prussia, but since then has been incorporated into Russia. He came from a background of artisans with both his father and grandfather, on his mother’s side being harness makers. His family can be described as a modest one.
His father had to rely on their extended family for support as he was not able to adequately provide for them from his trade.
Personal Life
His parents were Pietism and this meant that he had to be brought up in a similar way. He was enrolled in a Pietism school at his young aged. However, he disliked this type of religion, which he attested to be least inspiring from his parents. He, however, described the hard work and resilience from his parents as being the major influencers of his life.
He enrolled in a college in his hometown which was called Albertina. He formerly had an interest in classics but later on developed a liking for philosophy.
Career
On completing college, he was a private tutor to children for a short while and later on become a teacher at the college he formerly was in. since he was not in the university’s parole, he was paid directly by the students who he taught in his lectures. He published a number of philosophical papers and scientific works. He also developed the nebular hypothesis of the solar system.
He is credited as one of the most published philosophise in his time due to the burst of publications that he featured in.
Death
Kant died on 12 February 1804.
