The controversial chef was born in Johnstone, Scotland. He is a second born in a family of four. At the age of five, Gordon’s family moved to Stratford-upon-Avon, England, where he was raised. His father was a man of many skills. At times, he worked as a swimming pool manager, a welder, and a shopkeeper.
His mother was a nurse, as well as his older sister. His other sister was a waitress while his younger brother had been jailed for possessing drugs. Career
Gordon started his career as a professional footballer. However, his passion for soccer was cut short by a knee injury, which saw him exit the field and follow his cooking profession. After his cooking courses, Gordon worked under the wings of Europe’s top chefs.
Later, Gordon studied French cuisine and decided to go solo as a chef. He helped Aubergine hotel earn a two-star from Michelin within three years. In 1998, Gordon opened his first-ever restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsey. The restaurant received a three-star rating from Michelin for offering high-end meals. Today, Gordon owns several restaurants, all of which have continued to earn incredible rewards.
