Denis Waitley is well-known as a great speaker, consultant, and author in the United States.
As an author, Waitley has been able to publish some best-selling works including, Seeds of greatness and The Winners Edge. His audio series, The Psychology of Winning is also a best-selling project done by Waitley.
Waitley’s success in public speaking led to him being inducted into the hall of fame for international speakers.
Early Life
Denis was born and partly raised in San Diego. His father had served in the second world war and later became a warehouse worker while his mother worked in a factory. However, Waitley did not get the chance to grow around both parents as they divorced while Waitley was only ten, and Waitley had little contact with his father after that.
Waitley attended the U.S. Naval academy at Annapolis where he trained on naval aviation.
Personal Life
Denis Waitley is married to Deborah Waitley. Together with her husband, they run the Waitley Global enterprise with Deborah as the president.
Career
After leaving the army, Waitley came back to La Jolla in San Diego where he worked in an electronics company as a financial public relations representative. He later worked for the Salk institute for biological studies as a fundraiser.
It is in 1976 that Waitley made the first recording of the more extensive audio series, ”The psychology of winning”/ the audio was then released two years later and has sold more than two million copies since then with revenue above $100 million.
Waitley founded the National Council for Self-esteem. He has served as the chairman of psychology in the U.S. Olympics committee which is responsible for enhancing the performance of the athletes.
It is also important to point out that Waitley holds a doctorate in Human Behavior from La Jolla college.
