Early Life
Jacqueline Kennedy was born in 28 July 1929 in Southampton, New York. She was the daughter of John Bouvier and Janet Norton Lee, the former who was a stocker in wall street and her mother was a socialite. She was named after her father and raised as a catholic.
She was brought up in Manhattan, and was her father’s favourite. She attended Manhattan’s Chapin school from grade 1 to 7. Her family was troubled by her father’s continued alcoholism and infidelity. They also had complications financially due to the issues in the Wall Street back then. Her mother was then forced to separate from their father and got remarried, where she had three other children.
Personal Life
Bouvier met with former president John Kennedy through mutual friends and were both Catholics. They married within a year after meeting in a dinner party. She was also dedicated to her family and supported her husband’s political aspirations while also taking care of their family.
John F. Kennedy was assassinated when Jacqueline was right beside her. She initially mistook the sound from the gunshot to be that of a motorcycle issue, but was alerted by the screams that followed.
Career
She accompanied her husband to a number of campaign events right from when he was vying for the senate seat. She was the centre of media attention because of her eye-catching fashion sense.
She took part in the promotion of American arts and spearheaded the conservation of their native history.
Death
Jacqueline Kennedy died on May 18th, 1994 in her sleep after a series of health issues after falling off her horse.
